Cleft is the most common craniofacial malformation that results from a failed merging of the maxillary and medial nasal elevations (Cleft lip). results from the failure of the lateral palatine processes to meet and fuse (Cleft palate) can occur either unilaterally or bilaterally and typically happens at the junction of the lateral incisor and the first premolar teeth.
