Forensic entomology is the scientific analysis of insects and other arthropods to aid in legal investigations, primarily to determine the postmortem interval (PMI), or the time since death. By studying the species, life stage, and distribution of insects found on a corpse, forensic entomologists can provide evidence about the time of death, the location of the body, and potentially the cause of death
