نبذة مختصرة
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is crucial for both the diagnosis and prognosis of colorectal carcinoma (CRC) by using antibodies to identify specific proteins in a tumor. For diagnosis, IHC helps confirm the origin of a suspected metastatic tumor by identifying a characteristic staining pattern, such as CK20 positivity and CK7 negativity, and confirms colorectal differentiation with markers like CDX2. For prognosis, IHC is used for prognostic purposes like assessing MSI status (using markers like MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, and PMS2) and for predicting treatment response and patient outcomes using markers like Ki-67, EGFR, and HER2.
