Cervical cancer screening involves testing for abnormal cells (Pap test) or high-risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV) that can cause cancer (HPV test), or both together (co-testing). These tests are a way to prevent cervical cancer by finding and treating cell changes before they become cancerous. Screening is recommended for people with a cervix, typically starting at age 21, with the specific type and frequency depending on age and health history
