Plant extracts are a promising alternative to antibiotics for fighting drug resistance because their diverse phytochemicals (like flavonoids, tannins, and alkaloids) disrupt bacterial cells via multiple mechanisms (membrane breakdown, enzyme inhibition, etc.), making it harder for bacteria to develop resistance compared to single- target antibiotics, with examples like Aloe vera and Neem showing activity against resistant strains like MRSA.
