Water Splitting for Hydrogen and Oxygen Generation: Water splitting is one of the most promising technologies for producing clean and sustainable fuels. The process involves decomposing water (H₂O) into its elemental gases, hydrogen (H₂) and oxygen (O₂). Since hydrogen is a high-energy fuel and oxygen is a valuable byproduct, water splitting has attracted global attention as a cornerstone of the future energy transition. Unlike fossil fuels, hydrogen derived from water produces only water vapor upon combustion or when used in fuel cells, making it a zero-carbon energy carrier.
