نبذة مختصرة
Buccal cell cytology is a simple, non-invasive laboratory technique used to collect and examine epithelial cells from the inner surface of the cheek. It is particularly useful for medical laboratory students because it provides practical training in specimen collection, slide preparation, staining, and microscopic examination. The collected cells can be observed to study their morphology, including the cell membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus. Buccal smears may also be used in cytogenetic and molecular studies, such as DNA extraction and sex-chromatin examination. The technique is inexpensive, relatively safe, and requires minimal equipment, making it suitable for teaching basic cytological principles and laboratory
