This work is to understand how two multinational novels and their films interact with each other to produce different meanings for physical and emotional isolation- observing the complex cross-cultural intertextuality relations among the two genres (fiction and media) from various artistic and visual fields. By critically discussing how the two multinational writers address the issue of isolation, we will argue that it is necessary to understand intertextuality in an integral and non-discretized way through a typological continuum of relationships between textual & verbal/ visual texts.
