The pace of development in digital dental manufacturing has become impressive. High levels of productivity and accuracy of fit have been achieved by subtractive processes, while additive processes (3D printing) are increasingly coming to the fore. Combinations of different manufacturing methods—such as laser sintering plus CNC machining or digital design and 3D printing plus analog ceramic pressing—display the enormous potential 3D printing as a widely employed technology for the production of dental prostheses.
